Session 324 - Starter motor heat shield

An awkward job covering the starter motor with heat shield. Awkward because the exhaust headers run very close which of course is the reason for needing a heat sheild in the first place. I also installed a rubber boot over the main solenoid pole. Installed non-conductive heat sheild over the switching wire.

I loom taped the only wiring left exposed at the top of the engine bay from the ECU. Looking very tidy now.

I also started the engine up today first time for at least 2months. As I had messed about with the engine loom, starter motor and also installed the interference caps I just wanted to check that everything seems to be working. I almost ran the engine up to temperature now that I have the heat shield installed above the cats. Last time I ran the engine up to termperature before I had the cats you could almost see petrol spitting out the exhausts! The cats seem to be working cannot smell petrol at all now. Not advisable but you can breath in the fumes from the exhaust and smell no petrol or little else.
